There are many varieties of flowers that can be considered beautiful and romantic of course but roses always had and still have something special in the heart of most people.

Many types of flowers and especially roses have a romantic history, with their sweet odors, silky soft surface and cheerful look.

Roses can symbolize different emotions, and also produce or renew the ones that faded from awareness to lift a person outlook; it is in nature's bounty for all of us to see the inherent beauty in existence.

I can't tell you how often that I've sold a dozen roses to somebody with stars in their eyes. It always looks like buying a dozen roses represent only a period when you are the most in love. A dozen roses is a big and bold statement. It could even be named a proclamation. I know that the times I was given a dozen roses in my life were few and precious.

A man came in my flower shop one day last week looking for a dozen roses. He seemed so joyful and anxious to explain to me why he was buying a dozen roses.

The customer began to explain to me that he was buying his wife a dozen roses because they had just receive the news that they were expecting with their second child. He was so excited that he was almost dancing. We had the dozen roses sent to her home and I was the lucky one that got to deliver them. They lived in a pretty beautiful house in an rich quarter. They had flowers in the courtyard and it looked idyllic.

The lady looked a little weary when she opened the door to get the dozen roses. She told me that she was experiencing morning sickness. She really looked a lot better after the dozen roses were delivered.

The busiest time of year around my shop is mother's day. We sell quite a few vases containing a dozen roses to men that decide to honor their spouse.

My dad has always bought a dozen roses for my mom on Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, her birthday and their wedding anniversary. He really has kept up the purchasing of many dozen roses every year for as long as I could remember. If I find a man who will buy me a dozen roses many times a year like my dad does for my mom I'll know I have found the right man for me. I'm still waiting patiently with hope.

Almost everyone is stunned by roses and their brilliance in terms of colours and fragrance. Our focus is so much on their beauty that we miss to notice the number of thorns on their stems (until we are pricked! Ouch!). Lost in the magnificence we don't even stop to think that such art was created out of soil and manure. Nature has it perfectly planned that no matter what seed is planted; the elements will unite to help bring out the potential of the seed.

The soul is synonymous with the seed, waiting to blossom and bloom, amidst the manure of our daily life. Thorns that offer protection for the rose are synonymous with difficult people and situations for the soul. These circumstances we find ourselves in are in fact blessings in disguise; they continue our growth and learning, make us stronger and prevent us from developing any self-centeredness or egotism about our beauty.

The rose is also naturally fragrant; it is very rare for it not to be. Thus the soul, is a rose inside and out. The fragrance is the scent of divine qualities. With every virtue we exercise, we become as aromatic as the roses.

Roses are appropriate for every occasion; for weddings and funerals. So too, as we fill our lives with graceful qualities we find that we can mould ourselves into any situation. Just as roses can be matched into any bouquet, so too the power of adjustment is easy for the one whom is the rose.

It's time... to emerge the royalty of divinity within the soul and practice being the rose. Emerge the scent of your virtues and charm others with your kindness. But be cautious of the bugs and bees, for they too shall want to share in your nectar and sweetness! Thus balance is imperative!
