krisee. asked:
I received a rose for velantines day. It's just a single rose, without thorns and some leaves. I've stuck it into a vase of water. Are there any way I can keep the flower fresh for a longer period of time?

i used to work in a country club restaurant and they used sugar in the water to prolong the bloom. i also believe that aspirin is also a good choice but am not sure of the efficacy.
buy another one!
You can cut the tip of the stem off under water with a sharp knife or clippers, then quickly put the rose in water. Florists and some other stores that sell things for plants have packets of powder to put in the water in the vase that preserve flowers including roses.
liquid nitrogen
clip the end of the rose under running water and change the water in the vase everyday. make sure there aren’t any leaves attached to the rose that are submerged in the water.
