Julie asked:
I got a rose for valentines day, and i know they obviously don't last forever.
So i was wondering how do you dry out a rose and keep it intact? Should i keep it in water until it just drys? Or should i take it out of the water?

To dry and preserve a rose in the original shape and condition, you have to carefully bury it in dry sand and change the sand during the drying process. As it is a labor intensive project, go on a web search for drying flowers. You will find a lead to a site. You might also try the local library.
Good luck.
i have a rose that was on my grandmas casket from about two years ago, i just put in on my cabinet and let it sit, it hasnt moved much but i can pick it up and it doesnt fall apart, take it out of the water and find a place in will not be disturbed and it will hold up for quite some time
I HAVE HAD LUCK BY SIMPLY TAKING IT OUT OF THE WATER, HANG IT UPSIDE DOWN UNTIL IT IS DRIED. THIS WAY IT WILL GO BACK TO THE MORE CLOSED FORM IT WAS WHEN YOU RECEIVED IT. THEN I SPRAY IT WITH HAIRSPRAY. THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY.
hand it upside down by a thread. i usually hang them in my closet
hang it upside down in a dark, cool area.
