A Rose Is A Rose
Whether it be just one rose or a dozen roses. Receiving a rose still says the same thing to the recipient. It still tells the person how you feel. How special he/she is and that you wanted him/her to know it. Whether it be one single long-stemmed red rose from the one you love. Or a hand-picked rose of any color from one of your own children. It's the special meaning that the rose carries, the feelings that are conveyed by the giver. Never discount a rose for being just single for it can speak depths within it's silky petals. It's fragrance can take you away on a scented journey of heady heights. Your heart will still swell with joy, your pulse will still race and your face will still flush. You will still ride the roller coaster of emotions that one gets when receiving the gift of the flower known as the rose. A rose is a rose.
With just one rose you can press it between a book and keep it forever as a special reminder of the giver's love/feelings. I prefer just one rose for this very reason. Then I can often go back, open the book and remember the moment that I received the rose. The memory is vivid, bringing a smile to my face. I also enjoy feeling the rush of emotions come over me once more as they did when I first received that rose. Receiving a single rose for Valentine's day if far better than any candy. A rose and a kiss from your love, stays with one forever. Especially if you press the rose for eternity, so you can revisit the memory.
Valentine's Day is the day for receiving roses more than any other day of the year. However, don't forget Mother's day when your children run outside and pick a rose from your rosebush and put it into a vase. Then they put that vase on the tray with your breakfast, which they bring you in bed. They too express an inexplicable love in this way. This is their way of learning how to express their love to others through the giving of roses in the future on possibly Valentine's day.
Women can also give men roses in society today. Most of us will only do so for Valentine's day. However, I find on occasion I need to send, my love, flowers or a rose to say "I'm sorry" when I've really messed up big time. A single rose in a vase with a little teddy bear seems to work wonders.
Roses come in a variety of colors so you can send them to people other than those you love. I'll send a blue one to men who are friends or if I am in trouble for messing up big time. Yellow roses are great for friendship or even Mother's day. I find that my Mother loved yellow roses as it brightened up her home making it more cheerful and sunny to her. You can give a yellow or pink rose to your Mother on Valentine's day to make her feel special. Why not? You love her too.
Single red or white roses are generally worn in men's lapels on their wedding day. The rose is very symbolic of love and union and it only takes one to unite two people. Women will generally carry a wedding bouquet of entire roses or other flowers with a few roses gathered within. My wedding bouquet consisted of purple carnations and three off white roses, one rose for every year we were a couple before we wed.
A dozen roses is sometimes special for rare occasions. Yet, one rose says "you are my one and only" just as I have given you just one and only one rose. What better sentiment to convey to your sweetheart or lifetime companion?
