One Response to What native plants are threatened by the multiflora rose?

  1. Cat

They generally don’t mention specific species. ANY that normally inhabit the sunny open areas that the multiflora rose is quickly expanding into will be threatened, as they will lose a one-on-one fight for one particular spot. So, pick any native sun-loving wildflower, and it will most likely have trouble if the multiflora rose moves into its meadow.

And then animals may have trouble, if the plants that they use as a food source start dropping in numbers.

It’s an “ecosystem” issue, not one kind of plant issue. When an invasive “take over”, what grow there, and lives there will change.
